forward or back?
i like to think of myself as a forward, the fly half rules over the backs, i tell the big guys what to do, bein 5'9", 120, its nice to yell at a 6'4" 250 guy and have him do exactly what i say, there's a certain pleasure in ruling over 8 guys each twice my size or more

Re: forward or back?
Haha me too. My girls are that much bigger than I am, but I like to be able to control where the plays are going. It's also fun to decide who you want to practice with...

Re: forward or back?
I feel more like a back b/c on my team the scrummies run plays more often with the backs but there is definately a forward element to it... esp when the forwards slack & youre in a ruck.

Re: forward or back?
I played scrumhalf almost during all my career (but also played sometimes flyhalf, fullback, winger...and even center), i think 9 is a particular post... He has back's skills but plays a lot with the forwards... My best Rugby's Friends are forwards (the best one is a probe Diego playing now in Newman's, Argentina)... So i generally feel closer from the forwards (my pretorian guards as i like to say)... With the modern Rugby we see 3rd rows often integrating the back lines, the limit between the backs and the forwards is no more in the skills... Maybe the 9 is the 4th 3rd row, at least with my 5'7" and 155lb i loved be the chief of my 8 barbarians ![]()

Re: forward or back?
Yea I definately see where you're coming from. I used to be a foward [a 2nd actually] so i'm closer with the pack as well. Scrummies definately have to have something special though... Speedy enough to keep up with the backs, but strong enough to be part of the fowards and boss everyone else around! That's my favorite part!

Re: forward or back?
the most skilled player on the pitch!
not 'jack of all trades, master of none' but master of all.
they have to kick as well as 10's but have a 3rd of the time or space to do it, have to ruck as well as flankers but have half the weight, need to tackle like centres but far more often and run as fast as wings, but from a standing start, with someone trying to tap their ankles!
we are the Masters! not forwards or backs, but the definition of a rugby player!
